When I shoulder the gun the sights are right where I need them As far as fit around the trigger, it is tight, and a little hard to get the trigger group back in when cleaning the gun. I also swapped the original grip into the Mesa Stock. I liked the shape of it better, as the Mesa grip was boxed off at the rear. MDracer76, You were right; the drop on the Urbino M2 stock is virtually the same as Benelli AccessoriesOEM tactical stock which is almost 2" longer. If you throw the Benelli M2 Accessories with Urbino stock up to your shoulder with your eyes closed, you are looking directly thru the sights when you open your eyes.

Way easier to tug a lever, dump the scope, and transition to your back up iron sights. There is no point in adding a BUIS if you cannot get it into action very quickly. That said I use the GG&G Trijicon ACOG mount, I like that single lever and these mounts are built plenty strong enough to handle major abuse. That BUIS will most likely be for show anyways. Most of the M16A4 users in Iraq don’t even opt to bolt them on. I guess I just don’t see the non-hypothetical advantage and would rather spend the coin on ammo. I have heard of more Matech’s damaged beyond repair in combat/training than I have ACOG’s. Come to think of it, I have not heard of an Trijicon ACOG failing in the field. Just my .02 and if someone can de-bunk it I may spend the $150 or whatnot to get me a throw-lever mount. There was a thread at the start of the war where there were photos of a Trijicon ACOG that was shot and saved a guys life. ACOGs get shot. Shot optics dont work. Military guys dont “choose” to not have BUIS… they often did not have them issued, especially at the start of the war because of budgetary reasons. Your line of thinking is a bad one IMO.

4/21/2007 8:52:35 PM M1/M14 barrel changing is best left to experts w/ the tools. The big issue to shortening a barrel is recutting the FS splines – not many people can do that. That’s if you want a standard type FS. Best buy a new barrel and sell the old one. Probably a $300 job and you can sell the old one. Talk to SA Inc. The Mark IV is the standard for M14 Scope Mounts shooting, but they also make the Mark II, which is the same thing but minus some features for better affordability. I’m putting a Burris XTR on mine – Burris makes some killer scopes too. With scopes, it’s best to decide your price range first, the features you NEED, and find brands that fit these criteria.
