NRA’s now total recovery is now more than 1.4 million dollars as a result of its hard work in litigating NRA v. City of Chicago and NRA v. Gets in my way more than anything, sure it feels great if Im gonna be walking for a mile single shoulder style. The VCAS looks nice, but they make it seem overly complicated. I have been looking at the Dieters CQD rifle sling and the Galco MIL rifle sling and have been looking for something like the M14 style pictured above, but with better buckles and hook up points. I have the VLTOR EMod stock, and I like the how alot of the “tactical” rifle slings wrap around the buttstock, rather than to a swivel mounted on the side. Any pros or cons to this method as apposed to a swivel? I also have the rifle length Magpul MOErifle sling i have now. I want something that can be used to aid my grip or stance. I have settled on the fact I need a 2 point, have no need for a single or 3 point rifle sling. A 3 point is worthless except for heavy MG’s . But I do appreciate the opinions. Keep them coming, rifle wont be ready for another week or so. So I still have time to decide. I have seen something called the Mamba, if Im not mistaken. It attaches to the front, wraps around the handguard, goes the length of the rifle tot he butt stock and attaches there and wraps around, but also has adjustable strap from front to back for your shoulder. I know that the AP is not the right optic for shooting tight groups, and even though that i have the weapon to go that route, im more interested on “minute-of-man” accuracy than anything else. I had to trim the underfolder stock about 1 mm where it passed over the mount, but besides that it is rock solid and works perfectly with a PSL mount/scope. GrantS

The batteries contact the circuit board in the head and not a shock absorbing spring. You break it on a rifle SF can tell you to bad so sad and not fix it under warranty if they so choose. They’d probably still fix it but….. BTW LA Police Gear has them listed for a little over $100. I paid $130 for mine at a local gun store. If it’s like their other X series of flashlights, it says NOT FOR WEAPON USE or something like that on the back near the barcode. volo

So I’ve been kicking around the idea of a red dot and am really interested in the micro packages. I know of the Aimpoint quality so wasn’t sticker shocked by the T1/H1 price tags but dang, I only get to the range maybe 20 times a year! Thus, I can’t really justify that price tag considering I watch more gun play on TV than participate in said activity.
Well Vortex have come out with a budget (cheap?(?)) version of the micro red dot, the SPARC. I read a pretty positive review on ARFCOM but wanted to know if anyone here has any experience with this little gal. Fuck, I’ll take hearsay too about the SPARC or Vortex in general.

Putting the Scope Rings sharp side rearward will help with sealing, and even allow the Scope Ring to cut carbon better on the closing stroke. If you install them with sharp against sharp edges, could cause some problems with the Scope Rings not alone to self adjust each other, and could have been the reason that the Scope Rings wore out so quickly. Of if installed round side to the back of the bolt, can get a bit more blow by as well, causing the Scope Rings to burn up faster as well. I put the two rear ones as you say, but the front one the other way. This way no sharp edges touch each other, and the front one also scrapes , and keeps out carbon from the group of three. Usurpation

WolfTrack 10/25/2011 6:24:00 PM I prefer laying down netting as an base for the burlap to attach to. I use Shoe-Goo for this. It works surprisingly well. (For a demo on a building class, we picked a guy up in one by the netting) I apply a dab to random knot points in the netting across the base garment. (See second pic, you should be able to see glue points) Some have opted to sew on the netting for added piece of mind, in addition. I prefer to strip bulap down to individual strands as above as well, then tie in groups. Using the netting as such allows for easy repairs, color changes, etc… The smaller squares in the first pic are fine for a stand alone Ghillie Suit . However, it’s more of a PITA when inserting vegetation to use the Ghillie Suit to more of its potential. In the lower pic, I used netting with larger squares (a cheap hammock from the PX). As far as flight suits/one-piece-suits, I don’t like them. They’re nut crushers if you do much low-crawling. One I started, and yet to finish. mcnielsen

I can also add that the handguard on the Pred has had some weight shaved out of it and yes, it is longer. In my experience, there were many requests for the longer handguard to give one more rail room and to accomidate newer shooting styles.
The Pred is less expensive. You can save some scratch towards the purchase of a quality optic.
Lastly, having shot and handled both, the Pred feels like a toy compared to the OBR. Usually the match will recognize different divisions with 1 of them being Open Class. You’re correct that 2 optics will put you into open class, along with that GripPod/Bipod configuration. If you’re just starting out, I’d recommend Tactical Optics with yourTrijicon Accupoint and remove the GripPod. the grip pod can stay as long as he ONLY uses it as a VFG, deploy those legs and welcome to open. Currently I have a rifle length free float rail, with Magpul front and rear gen 2 sights. The front is as far up as I can lock it, and the rear is as far back as I can lock it. I recently picked up a Primary Arms M4 style Red Dot. My understanding is with the built in mount of the m4 red dot, I can use it in a 1/3 co-witness setup with my mbus sights. I plan on purchasing a PA magnifier soon as well. When used with a magnifier, does that mean when I look through the magnified sight, the dot will be on the lower 1/3 of the sight picture? Or will it appear to be in the center, even though I have it co-witnessed at 1/3? Thanks Cowitness is just where the iron sights line up in the Red Dot Sight window. Once the magnifier is in place it goes away becasue you can’t see the irons anymore. As the previous post says you will use the adjustments on the magnifier to center the dot. The House this week is expected to take up a measure by Rep. Phil Gingrey, Georgia Republican, expressing the sense of Congress that the approximately 40,000 active-duty military personnel who live in or are stationed in Washington should be exempt from local firearms restrictions. Two of my favorites are a Ruger 77/22 stainless steel .22 Mag and a Winchester 70 .30-06 that has been GunKoted. Both have seen many, many miles in the field. Cold and wet, dry and hot, makes no difference in either rifle. They do get some dings and scratches, but have held up very well overall. I do have synthetic stocked rifles as well, but for a hunting gun, the laminated AR-15 Stocks are the way to go IMO. Like others have said, less noise in the field. ColtMatch556

Though it is louder to you as a shooter, it is better than surefire for low profile canted shooting positions like the junkyard prone etc if you are into that stuff. I have not shot the AAC and what I have heard is not from a reliable enough source for me to repeat. I’ve used both on similar rifles and perceived just the opposite. The BC1.5 I have on my 14.5″ upper is great on muzzle rise, but does nothing to reduce felt recoil. It is significantly less blasty than other brakes. Interesting. I have a few buddies that agree with you also and then some that feel the same as me. I have been wondering if the reason for the disagreement it is shooting position/grip related, barrel length related, gas system length or just weight difference in the rifle. When I side by sided them they both had 16in barrels and mid length gas systems, though the surefire was on a slightly lighter weapon. BoovarBjarki

Not only that, but the threads on the Mesa Tactical screws were Stretched out, and deformed! After taking a look at the stock screws that the Benelli rail is attached with, the screws were very squared off (as they’re supposed to be) and the threads were completely in tact. So to do a bit more research, i went to my Father, whom is an engineer. After telling him the problems i was having, he took a look at the thread, and (according to him) the threads should NOT look how mine looked. He told me to hold it up to a magnet, and it flew right over to it (was about 1.5 inches away). Accoridng to him, the screw SHOULD NOT be very magnetic at all. The fact that it was magnetic meant that it had a very high carbon/iron content, which made the metal in the screw too soft! This would explain why the screw was deformed. FYI, the stock benelli screws were just barely attracted to the same magnet, which meant they were high-alloy or hardened screws. So, what we have here, is a defective product.

Louisiana Pro-Gun Constitutional Amendment Passes House, Goes to Senate for Possible Final Approval on Tuesday Today, the Louisiana House of Representatives voted 77 to 22 to pass Senate Bill 303, a constitutional amendment protecting the right to keep and bear arms. SB 303 had already passed in the state Senate, two House committees and has been endorsed by Governor Bobby Jindal. This legislation, which provides for a right to keep and bear arms constitutional amendment, now goes back to the Senate for its concurrence which will take place as early as Tuesday.

It was my bad, I didn’t notice the video question. Gabe Suarez might have a video out, but I am not sure. If you check out M4C training section you will find some AAR’s from classes and that might help guide you to an instructor that fits your needs. I will poke around and see if I can find a good AK-47 Accessories video for you. Pat Rogers from EAG also does a AK-47 Accessories class. Best of luck. No problem missing the DVD bit. I didn’t mention it in the first post, because of where I made the post. (Can’t everyone read my mind? ) I am trying to stay away from Suarez’s work. I read his books and I really liked what he had to say, but then…. I read the my guru is better than your guru thread on a different forum. Suarez didn’t fair to well in that thread. Then, I had a run in with him on a different forum. He had the attitude that “It is my way, the only way,…I don’t care what anyone else says I am right.” I would prefer someone with a more open mind. He might be right, but…. The tan front skidded suit has medium reg marpat pants, the marpat front skidded suit has med long pants in tri color desert… USGI. both suits are machine sewn with E6100 adhesive. There are forearm pockets and thumb loops. Both have venting on the backs. Both boonies are tri color desert hats in 7.5. The tan front skidded suit’s boonie has venting in the top of the head. all garnish is jute/burlap. stalk grass and moss dreadlocks. there are pads in the elbows and knees. Along those same lines, you can co-witness your red dot sight for all shooting in the lower 1/3 mount, too.

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts fromLaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.
If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.
The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.
Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.
The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

They are fun guns to shoot. Every gun owner should have one. $295 is pretty fair in today’s market for a norinco. You can find them for slightly less, but it will take lots of time and persistence to save $30-$50. I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts fromLaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.
If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.
The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.
Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.
The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

The SpecOps works off two springs and the main one can jump the pin in the receiver mount. There are no user repair parts so the stock is then FUBAR and good luck getting one from Black Hawk. Knoxx made a good product, damn shame who they sold it to. The transition of the recoil to the rear and back is smoother with the Mesa Tactical w/Endine Buffer. The Mesa Tactical will last the life of the weapon. I can not say that for the SpecOps.

4. 173 grain Match ammo is issued for both the SR25 and the M14 Scope Mounts, the ammunition is identical
5. I agree, haven’t found an effective scope platform for the M14 Scope Mounts rifle that compares to the excellence of the flattop Armalite receiver.
6. Extraction on ALL semi/full auto rifles gets weaker and weaker with repetitive cycles of the action, both the M14 Scope Mounts and the M16/SR25 systems are easily corrected at maintenance level.
7. The number of “doo hicky” parts are comparable on the SR25 and the M14 Scope Mounts. Both systems require a tool to replace the extractor, a punch for the SR25 and a chamber brush and combo tool for the M14 Scope Mounts. Both should have the springs and detents/pins replaced at the same time. Break an op rod notch on M14 Scope Mounts, big problem!

: Both Norinco and Poly-Tech have made M14 Scope Mounts-type rifles. They are not exactly to spec on all parts, but the receivers are forged, and only need to be properly heat treated to be really nice receivers. Some shooters believe that the Chi-Com rifle parts are actually superior to the Springfield Armory, Inc. cast parts, but are still inferior to USGI parts. Q: Where do I grease my M14 Scope Mounts? A: Front of hammer, bolt lugs, inside of receiver heel, inside of operating rod guide, top of rear of operating rod, bolt roller. Basically, every shiney spot on the rifle, where the finish has worn off on the operating parts. However, NEVER grease the gas piston. It is designed to operate dry.

There are limits to all rifles AND shooters. These military COF’s can help establish a baseline of sorts for those who want to know what to expect from their rifles. I like them as they are fun to shoot. I set up my own “qualifications” based on what I use my rifles for; varminting, elk, deer, bear hunting, etc. Super thread, incidentally. This stuff is great for those of us who own ranges or maybe those who manage them or otherwise might want to shoot these courses of fire for practice and simple enjoyment. TNVC [Industry Partner] 11/6/2011 5:21:40 PMI’m tentatively looking for a new A2 carry handle mount scope. It’s a bit strange that most of these mounts are NATO stanag scope mountarms #21 compatible, yet there’s no optics in the U.S. available in the format, except for a couple cheapies from Leapers (one a copy of the German Hensoldt scope with a 7.62 NATO BDC cam). The set-up seems ideal as it allows for a lower mounted scope than using scope rings . Yes it will, but you will have to mod the claws a little bit in order to catch correctly. The latches where the claws catch are a little bit bigger on the GSG than on the orginal HK, therefore the lever on the mount will not snap in place. You have to grind down the claw sides facing the latch by a hair to have it catch correctly. It only requires about 1mm, so be careful with the grinder. you have to choose between the “stationary” claws or the “movable” ones. I choose the movable ones since it was easier to disassemble the mount and grind them down. good luck. The only suitable carry handle mount scope is the ACOG…and I can’t afford one at this time without selling off some gear.I have this Hensoldt optic I want to mount on this AR: Is the ARMS multibase the only option? Or does someone make an adapter that will fit the stanag scope mountarms #21 on the scope to a pic rail? kitteh

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts fromLaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.
If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.
The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.
Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.
The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

A pedestrian-oriented theater district on 30 acres would be the first phase of construction, which could begin in about 18 months.
That includes a 57,000 square-foot Cinemark theater, the second the national chain would locate in Arizona, and 103,000 square feet of retail space.
“This is going to be a place where you want to be,” said head architect Robert Saemisch of Saemisch DiBella Architects Inc., which will design the theater.
Future phases include the Bass Pro store on 25 acres, a 110-acre retail district where the Super Wal-Mart would locate, a 30-acre auto mall and a 45-acrecommerce park.
Bass Pro Shops, an outdoor sporting-goods giant that sells everything from rods and rifles to hunters’ underarm deodorant and camouflage infant booties, attracts millions of tourists annually.
The Missouri-based chain is opening its first Western store in Las Vegas on Nov. 11. Saemisch estimated that the 180,000- to 200,000-square-foot store in Mesa Tactical could attract 2 million tourists a year.
The developers’ proposal will be considered at several City Council sessions and planning and zoning meetings.
The city also plans to hold several public meetings on the development.

Why don’t they try creating a business environment where they don’t have to give taxpayer-funded bribes/kickbakcs/payoffs (which is all this is) in order to attract businesses.
I can’t imagine that residents wouldn’t like their portion of the $40 million instead of it going to a government-funded giveaway.
