If your just shooting at the range then the night sights would be good to go, i myself am looking for night sights also and the ones you posted look real nice Not sure if serious… Have you ever handled a MePro21. Do you know what the reticules look like? Have you ever used each to see which one is faster for you? MePro21′s Bullseye reticule is ridiculously fast (just as fast as EOTech for me). It’s a simple circle with a dot in it. As Tomac always says, reticule washout is the bane of fiber optic/tritium lit sights, particularly when aiming from a dark area into a well lit one. The fix for that is to have a 1/3 cowitness setup with your irons… If I was to buy right now I’d get a MePro21 OR an XPS model EOTech .

5/1/2012 1:25:11 PM AR-15 Redtazdog: AR-15 Brahmzy: May I ask which barrels you 3 are using? I believe the barrel manufacturer makes a difference (i.e. gas port diameter). I’ve got a Noveske 16″ BBL and I don’t believe it’s “overgassed” per se – recoil is managable and I’ve never had a single feeding issue. I’ve never used lower power mil 7.62 either though – it’s all been full power 308. I’m in the process of moving to the VLTOR A5 sytem (A5 6-pos AR10 tube, H3 or heavier AR15 AR15 buffer and an AR10 rifle spring.) This is mainly to smooth out the action and the fact that an AR15 collapsable AR15-length system doesn’t allow much forgiveness on a 308 action. . This is so true as I have seen many barrels of many brands and it seems the port sizes differ. When you purchase one of the top of the line barrels chances are the maker did some home work on port sizes and position of the port and that is some of the reasons they are top a the line barrels and cost more. I honestly hadn’t thought of contacting EOTech – I will do just that. Also, to note- the original “finish” on the underside of the batter compartment (the part that detaches) has since completely detached. This was rather recently (remember, this is a 5 year old sight)- I had pulled it apart and noticed that the plastic/paint coating had COMPLETELY bubbled up and pulled off of the housing. I quickly scraped it off w/ my leatherman, and fortunately there were small battery polarity diagrams underneath it so I still knew how to properly install them. Will contact EOTech and let them know. I will follow up with this post as I get more information. JoelK

I 5/15/2012 8:22:24 PM The Aimpoint T-1 is the way to go. Price was my only stumbling block, but after coming to the conclusion that I couldn’t do better I went and spent the cash. I got mine from Cal Sporting Armory for $525.00. I see it on Botach tactical for the same often. It’s the 4moa dot, I would rec. the newer 2moa dot for less target obscurement at distance. Expect to pay a lil more for the 2moa dot. Then again the 4moa will be cheaper and I have not had any issues with it. It’s on my patrol rifle so I don’t expect to be engaging anything past 50-75 yards, and the last time I looked a 4moa dot was fine on man sized targets out to 200+ yards The selling point for me is the battery life of the Aimpoints. After constantly going to a dead EoTech on duty I gave up. The EoTech is now on my fun guns and the Aimpoints on the work guns. scottrh2

I bought an Aimpoint for my Colt and now feel like getting another one for my FAL. Has anyone used an Aimpoint on the FAL (with the ARMS 3 mount)? If so, did you like it and where did you mount it (halfway, all the way forward, etc.). Any problems with the ejected brass hitting the Aimpoint if it was mounted all the way forward? I do see your point though and I agree that prices are often inflated. I’ll give you two examples. I bought a YHM Diamond series hand guard in rifle length for one of my builds. Before making the purchase I checked around and noticed that YHM was selling it for $180 off their website. They’re the manufacturer so it doesn’t surprise me the cost seemed high. I checked with my local gun store and they were $1.00 less in cost. Then I check Midway……$99.00 SOLD! Cha-ching! That’s an $81.00 savings! Okay, so then I was checking around for a magpul MOE hand guard in carbine length which typically sells for around $20.00 I go to my local gun store and saw it priced for $36.00 Seriously? That’s almost double the price? So I just bought it someplace else. I love our free market, because the consumer is the one who has the power. If I don’t like the price, I just go elsewhere. I have an AR50 and am looking to mount a Springfield 6-20X56 mil-dot government model scope that I’m not using right now on it. I’ve watched the forums and have heard kudos for everything from Burris Xtreme and Leupold Mark IV Scope Rings to Nightforce and Ivey’s. If I’m looking at the right model Burris those are aluminum Scope Rings . correct? I wouldn’t think that to be a best choice for a 50. I would think steel is the way to go. Agree / disagree? I use Leupold Scope Rings on a Rem PSS and am pleased with them but are they a good choice in this application? No experience with Nightforce but they don’t really look much better than Leupold, only more $$$. Ivey being adjustable is really nice but at $445 retail………aiyeeee…. Badger look good too but are they better/worse than Nightforce/Leo? Why? I think maybe med height Night Force (.885″) should work but it just may take high Scope Rings of some of the other mfg’s to work with a 56mm objective. What have the pros here found to work on an AR50? I know the ever popular nightforce has a 5-22 with a 56mm objective. Any thoughts, opinions, advice, etc is appreciated. UltraCarry45

I was commissioned by 6 Marines to make Ghillie Suit Suits for them. 2 backed out in the end and i’m left with these two suits. Both suits are medium regular shirts, USMC issue MARPAT. The tan front skidded suit has medium reg marpat pants, the marpat front skidded suit has med long pants in tri color desert… USGI. both suits are machine sewn with E6100 adhesive. There are forearm pockets and thumb loops. Both have venting on the backs. Both boonies are tri color desert hats in 7.5. The tan front skidded suit’s boonie has venting in the top of the head. all garnish is jute/burlap. stalk grass and moss dreadlocks. there are pads in the elbows and knees. 1/13/2012 10:36:30 PM Just an “FYI” for anyone else, I emailed Scot over at RS and told him about the issue I was having. Holy crap! Talk about customer service…he took the time to help me troubleshoot the issue from asking for pictures of the setup to even making a video about the correct way to clamp the RS mount onto the siderail. We ruled out the Vortex being the issue, and after checking level, we also ruled out the side rail on my Arsenal. He also assured me that after I test it at the range again, if redoing the fitting to my rail didn’t fix it, he would see that I get my mount exchanged. In fact, he said “you paid good money for it and it should work! You are 100% covered if there’s an issue with the rail”. I will update here after another range test. I recently purchased a brand new Bushmaster M4A2 and would like to mount an Aimpoint Comp ML2 on it (just forward of the carring handle and above the upper handguard). I’ve seen a couple of pictures with this set up and if someone could provide specific part numbers by Aimpoint, ARMS, GG&G, etc. Any info would be appreciated and if you can provide a pic of your own personal setup that would help me out immensely. Currently I have a rifle length free float rail, with Magpul front and rear gen 2 sights. The front is as far up as I can lock it, and the rear is as far back as I can lock it. I recently picked up a Primary Arms M4 style Red Dot. My understanding is with the built in mount of the m4 red dot, I can use it in a 1/3 co-witness setup with my mbus sights. I plan on purchasing a PA magnifier soon as well. When used with a magnifier, does that mean when I look through the magnified sight, the dot will be on the lower 1/3 of the sight picture? Or will it appear to be in the center, even though I have it co-witnessed at 1/3? Thanks Cowitness is just where the iron sights line up in the Red Dot Sight window. Once the magnifier is in place it goes away becasue you can’t see the irons anymore. As the previous post says you will use the adjustments on the magnifier to center the dot. I have an AR50 and am looking to mount a Springfield 6-20X56 mil-dot government model scope that I’m not using right now on it. I’ve watched the forums and have heard kudos for everything from Burris Xtreme and Leupold Mark IV Scope Rings to Nightforce and Ivey’s. If I’m looking at the right model Burris those are aluminum Scope Rings . correct? I wouldn’t think that to be a best choice for a 50. I would think steel is the way to go. Agree / disagree? I use Leupold Scope Rings on a Rem PSS and am pleased with them but are they a good choice in this application? No experience with Nightforce but they don’t really look much better than Leupold, only more $$$. Ivey being adjustable is really nice but at $445 retail………aiyeeee…. Badger look good too but are they better/worse than Nightforce/Leo? Why? I think maybe med height Night Force (.885″) should work but it just may take high Scope Rings of some of the other mfg’s to work with a 56mm objective. What have the pros here found to work on an AR50? I know the ever popular nightforce has a 5-22 with a 56mm objective. Any thoughts, opinions, advice, etc is appreciated. UltraCarry45

2/17/2012 11:41:52 PM I added the TVNC TLS TX4 600 lumen head, super bright and a lot of spill. I wished it had a tighter cone but the light output increase from the stock bulb was amazing. Still a heavy light but runs like a champ. I originally had the head on my surefire 870 foregrip, it lasted almost 2 years of almost constant slug abuse and finally kicked the bucket. TVNC’s customer service was great and exchanged it no questions asked. Now it’s on my AR, much less recoil so I’m sure it’ll last much longer. Lancelot
